Do I need a permit for a shed or building?

Permit requirements vary by location. Most areas require a building permit for structures over 120 square feet. Contact your local building department before ordering. Leonard’s team can help you understand local requirements.

How does rent-to-own work?

Rent-to-own lets you make monthly payments and own the building at the end of the term. No credit check required. Rent-to-own financing is available on every building Leonard sells. Contact your nearest Leonard for monthly payment details.

What sizes of storage sheds do you carry?

Leonard carries storage sheds from 6x8 and 8x10 for tools and lawn equipment, 8x12 and 10x12 for workshops and riding mowers, up to 10x20, 12x20, and 12x32 for large equipment storage. Custom sizes are available at most locations. Use the online configurator to build any dimension to order.

Does Leonard deliver and set up buildings?

Yes. Leonard offers delivery and professional setup for buildings purchased at any of our 80+ locations. Contact your nearest Leonard for delivery details, scheduling, and availability in your area.

Can I customize my building?

Yes. Use Leonard’s online building configurator to choose your size, style, colors, doors, windows, and add-ons. You’ll get an instant quote for your custom build.

How long does delivery take?

Delivery timelines vary by location and building availability. Standard in-stock buildings are typically available faster than custom orders. Contact your nearest Leonard location for an estimated delivery timeline.

What is the warranty on Leonard buildings?

Every Leonard building carries a 5-year limited manufacturer’s warranty. Roof coverings and all ground-contact materials are covered for a limited lifetime, and LP SmartSide siding and trim carry a 50-year limited warranty. Coverage can vary by component and building — contact your local Leonard for full warranty details on the building you choose.

How much does a storage shed cost?

Pricing depends on the size, material, style, and options you choose — a small 8x10 utility shed costs far less than a 12x24 lofted barn or garage. Every Leonard building is available rent-to-own with no credit check, so you can spread the cost over monthly payments instead of paying up front. For an exact price, build your shed in the online configurator for an instant quote, or contact your nearest Leonard.

Should I get a metal or wood shed?

Both are made in the USA and available rent-to-own. Metal sheds are budget-friendly and low-maintenance — they resist rot and never need painting, which makes them a great choice for straightforward utility storage. Wood sheds, built with durable engineered LP SmartSide siding, offer a traditional look, are easy to customize and paint to match your home or HOA, and make a better workshop, she shed, or finished space. Your local Leonard can help you weigh the two for your needs.

What kind of foundation or base does a shed need?

A storage shed should sit on a level, well-drained base. For smaller sheds, a level spot or a simple gravel pad usually works; larger buildings and garages do best on a compacted gravel pad or a concrete slab. Leonard’s delivery team will set your building on-site — contact your nearest location for site-prep guidance and any local requirements before delivery.

What’s the difference between barn, gable, and saltbox sheds?

It comes down to the roofline. A barn-style shed has a gambrel roof — two slopes on each side — which gives the most overhead and loft storage room. A gable shed has the classic A-frame roof with a single peak, the simplest and most popular look. A saltbox shed has an asymmetrical roof — one long slope and one short — for a distinctive, traditional profile.

Can I drive a riding mower into a Leonard shed?

Yes — Leonard shed floors are rated to a minimum of 40 pounds per square foot, the same as a residential home floor, so a riding mower, ATV, or golf cart can be driven right in. Pick a size and door opening that fit your equipment, and add an optional ramp for easy loading — ramps can be rent-to-owned right along with your building. Your nearest Leonard can help you match a building to what you want to store and drive in.

What is the best siding for a shed?

Leonard’s standard siding is LP SmartSide engineered wood — it resists rot and impact, holds paint well, and is built to last, which makes it a great all-around choice for workshops and finished spaces. Low-maintenance 29-gauge metal and vinyl siding are also available. Your local Leonard can help you pick the best siding for your build.
